Plants and living things are an integral part of rustic decorations. The bonsai trees, Jasmines, oranges and pine trees add to rustic atmosphere, plus the aroma they impart and the freshness of the air refreshes the soul. Water is also a key feature for rustic decoration. Beautifully tiled fountains provide any room the gentle sounds of flowing water, lending a perfect audible presence to your rustic atmosphere. It really doesn't matter where you live or how you choose to arrange your rustic furnishings - country-themed décor can and does work in the interior of any home. And with that rustic décor will come a sense of comfort as well as a feeling of being closer to nature... a feeling that many of us have lost in the mix of the city life.
Update the wreaths made of pinecones and dried flowers. Use some creativity to put dried flowers tied with a slim ribbon in a wicker basket, or put them in a more contemporary vase. Give the display a more up-to-date look by adding small glass bowls filed with stones in different colors. Furthermore, rethink how other accessories are displayed. Contemporary looks emphasize the principle that "less is more," so reduce the size and number of accessories to create more intriguing vignettes. The traditional elements may be retained, but cut them down to enhance their interest. Thus, instead of several wood bowls holding pine cones or evergreens scattered about a room, create one bowl with two or three pinecones surrounding by sprigs of fragrant rosemary. Instead of a week's worth of wood for the fireplace, only place a few logs in a black or bronze metal holder. Show off only the best copper pots and pans in the kitchen.
